Each edition presents short articles about how the QCWA’s Country Kitchens program is improving the health of Queenslanders, particularly in rural, regional and remote areas.

We always include a healthy recipe or two, helpful tips for choosing healthier foods, a regional roundup so you can stay in touch with Country Kitchens activities across the state, and you may even ‘Meet a Farmer’.

Country Kitchens makes cooking at home easier

Cooking at home allows you to prepare healthier meal options for you and your family and ensures you always know what’s going into your food. It doesn’t have to be difficult or take a lot of time.

We can help you health-a-size your favourite recipes, or you can browse our healthy recipe collection for some cooking inspiration.

Crafty Foodies – handcrafts to promote health

The Crafty Foodies series was designed as an alternative health promotion activity for those who love handcrafts. They are also a great play experience for children.

Our Crafty Foodies activities promote our 5 key messages and can be done in a group setting, at a branch meeting, or in the comfort of your own home.

We have a range of different activities available, some are free and others require items that you can purchase from our online store or your local craft shop. Check out our video tutorials on our YouTube for detailed instructions for each activity.

Working with QCWA members across Queensland

Each year the QCWA members nominate an Agricultural Product of the Year, a Country of Study, and a dedicated Health Awareness Topic to focus their awareness, learning and activities around.

Each year the Country Kitchens team develops a suite of resources for each of the QCWA topics, that promote our 5 key messages in the context of the QCWA Country of Study, Health Awareness Topic and Product of the Year.
